I wish. I am bombarded by "fat talk" on a daily basis. _________________ bubbles to the chandelier |

Is it ever inappropriate for someone who is not a post mod to be challenging to someone in that sort of way?
Basically I'm asking (I think ) does anyone think there's things that those that aren't post mods shouldn't do?
What should a post mod do that others shouldn't?
I don't know if this has made sense or if I should have even mentioned it though |
Because we are a recovery forum, I think it is appropriate for members to challenge posts simply because if someone is writing triggering things etc, then to challenge them is challenging their ED thoughts, which is what we need to do to recover.
If we didnt challenge things then we would be getting nowhere |
When I was IP we had regular group meetings after meals, at the beginning and end of each week etc and we were encouraged to challenge people where necessary, same at meals when they were displaying any "behaviours", rather than it just be the staff. It's a similar kind of thing. People often think about it more, take it less negatively, if they feel it's not simply because it's the rules, but from anyone struggling with the same issues. Not that what the post-mods say isn't listened to, especially as of course here they have/had their own issues too, but hopefully you know what I mean. _________________ "Action is the antidote to despair." - Joan Baez |

It makes alot of sense and I agree it's important...
I'd also like to say on another note that us postmods are just as likely to struggle as everyone else- so call us out on it. Don't be intimidated or feel like you can't. It sometimes gets mentioned there's somesort of hierachy here but there really really isn't. If anyone, including and maybe even especially us that are postmods, are struggling or posting inappropriate or triggering things call us out on it. You're not going to be shot down for it. There is no class system here meaning you can't challenge us as much as we challenge you. _________________ Life is like a giant game of Pac-Man: you have to keep eating in order to get to the next level. |

I certainly don't think of myself as any different than anyone here. Just because I have a post mod by my name doesn't make me a super human. That wasn't part of the job description. Please do challenge each other and the post mods. And please don't leave all of the dirty work to us. Challenge both yourself and others. Challenge the behaviors, though, not the person's soul. This is community and we are all here for a reason. We all came here for a similar reason, so there is a shared responsibility for ALL of us. Please be responsible. _________________ Risk Happiness. |

If something on the site is bothering you and you don't feel up to addressing the issue yourself, please contact one of the post-mods. We'll do our best to help and keep this place safe for everyone but we're not mind readers and if you don't let us know what's going on then we can't help. _________________ Life is like a giant game of Pac-Man: you have to keep eating in order to get to the next level. |

*bump*
Help us to help you. Don't make vague comments about finding the site triggering... come out with it. Pin whatever it is down. PM a post mod, put a message in someone's journal... whatever, just be upfront about it.
We aren't just going to do it for you magically... you have to fight for it too.. for recovery, to improve this place etc... be the change you want to see as I think someone's signature says.. also say what change exactly it is you want to see.
Help us help you... and also help us and each other by saying to someone you find them triggering. People are here to be challenged.. surely you are here to be challenged so why not do the same for others too? _________________ Life is like a giant game of Pac-Man: you have to keep eating in order to get to the next level. |
