Have you all seen the commercial with the 2 ladies at the coffee shop and instead of saying the names of the food they call them by their calorie content? This hits me as so disordered. This is how I think about food and what I'm trying to move past, but the commercial makes it seem as if its normal for people (women in particular) to think this way. Which of course it is not normal to think of food this way.

I am not sure if I am allowed to post the link to the commercial, so feel free to correct me mods!

Actually, there is another thread somewhere discussing another yoplait-ad where the audience can tune in to a very-eating-disordered-sounding stream of consciousness of a woman freaking out over whether to have a piece of cake or not.
There was also a press article about the controversy and an acknowledgement by the company. I think NEDA or some similar group got involved in that discussion.
Is this a new ad or does it belong to the new series of commercials?

Because I kind of remember them making some concessions about the tone of their commercials...

I think it is new, didn't they withdraw the other one? I thought they acknowledged that the other one was a bit too disordered.

Oh, cool... and next time they'll bring out one that is yet a little bit less disordered than the former :P
It seems like the controversy really had an effect on them.

gah I know! I actually find this one worse, perhaps because this is exactly how i think of food, in terms of calories.

I guess it simply would have been too much to ask for since that diet/low calorie/diet food-thing seems to be the sales pitch and disatisfied and insecure women a main target group?
I would have liked to see another campagin like Dove's to bring some variation into the picutres of women... But when the point of the criticism about a product is kind of the point of it's marketing. *sighs*

And this is why I will eat the nasty generic stuff over yoplait ANY day. Actually the generic stuff isn't that bad, but you get my point. Plus, it's cheaper.

I just went through a bunch of links on youtube, and every single one was worse than the one before.

The part that really got me was the "40 whipped calories on top".

(on a side note, that reminded me that the soy milk I have in my fridge right now says "100 awesome calories per serving").

I just threw this on facebook. I'm curious if the rest of the world finds it really off-putting.

I actually like my store brand best (Meijer). Although I want to try Chobani sometime.

My corner of the world just got a little more ridiculous.

Could it not have been the good kind of ridiculous, at least? Like the fact that scorpions glow in the dark?

Sigh. I hope this advert gets pulled soon.

( By the way, they totally do:
