True Beauty
- by Fleurdelisa
I've been thinking a lot about beauty lately, true beauty, and what it really is. It's not a number. True beauty can't be found on a scale or a tag or a chart. It's not preceded by a dollar sign or followed by a percent sign. It's so much more than that.
True beauty is feeling your own worth and not letting that worth get clouded by thoughts of self-doubt.
True beauty is realizing your own intelligence without downplaying it for fear of intimidating someone else.
It's accepting your flaws because they make you who you are and make you unique.
True beauty is allowing yourself to become more of a person, not less of a person.
True beauty can be seen in a person who takes care of herself by being kind to her body, not by destroying it.
True beauty is found in kindness, humor, wit, and love, not in loathing, fear, shame, or distrust.
True beauty is knowing who you are and loving yourself for it, not hiding behind a facade of what you think others want you to be.
True beauty can be found in a genuine smile, a real laugh, in the love you share with others.
We are all beautiful; we just need to let ourselves see it.
