WBB ESSAYS
WBB Pro-Recovery? No, it's something else.
- By Willow
As has been said before, it's a process. WBB normalizes the idea of recovery as an option, just as pro-anorexia normalized the disease process. I've been on staunchly pro-recovery sites, and quite frankly they made me sicker than pro-anorexia sites. They don't normalize recovery, they idolize it. It's something to be attained, something to be achieved. Those who fail to achieve it are weak failures who aren't trying.
We know that's not the case. We know that it's not about pro anything. It's about being offered choices, about seeing honest posts about what it's like to be sick, what it's like to recover. It's about taking away the myth surrounding recovery.
There's nothing magical about it. There's nothing impossible about it.
Everyone can recover -- but it's not easy, and it's not pretty.
WBB allows for expression of all phases of the process... from those just wondering how to begin, if to begin through those who are beginning to move on. It gives a spectrum... just like so much about pro-anorexia is black and white, so much about WBB is a beautiful full-colour spectrum.
It's not about being best at dying or best at living...
It's about allowing the process to happen in all of it's glorious technicolour.
