I am a Masterpiece

- fruitsnack

I am a masterpiece. My body is a masterpiece.

My brain allows me to learn about the world around me and helps me create works of art.

My eyes let me see the love in my husband’s eyes and my son’s pride when he accomplishes something.

My ears let me hear all sorts of beautiful music, including my son’s laugh and my husband telling me he loves me.

My nose lets me smell a freshly-bathed baby, freshly-baked cookies, and my husband’s familiar cologne.

My mouth lets me lend a smile to a stranger or encouragement to my son.

My voice allows me to speak up and be heard, to laugh, and to tell my loved ones that I appreciate them.

My arms wrap my son in comfort when he falls, help me wrestle with my husband, and allow me to slow dance with my husband.

My hands help me create meals for my family, tickle my son, and hold my husband’s hand.

My lungs are boringly reliable. They breathe in and out, in and out, supplying my body with the air to sing, to run after my son, to live.

My heart beats a steady cadence, not missing even one beat as it provides fresh blood to all parts of my body.

My back is strong, and growing stronger every day. It allows me to pick up my son, bend down to kiss a wounded knee and act as a human jungle gym.

My torso holds my organs, all working together to keep my body alive. It once held my son, who according to humans was not supposed to be. My body nourished him and let him grow and be born in perfect condition.

My legs are strong, making it easy for me to chase my son or jump for joy, and providing my son a cozy lap to cuddle in.

My feet help me dance, help me run, help me stand up to become who I am meant to be.

My bones are straight and strong, allowing me to stand up straight, with my head held high.

Aesthetically, my body may not be “perfect” in the eyes of people around me. It is, though, the perfect body for me.

It is a masterpiece.
