Humans are Pack Animals

Humans are pack animals. They stay with the herd. If they find something different, they must assert that they are not like the different thing so that they can assure the herd that they are a part of the herd, and not also unique and targetable like whatever they have all identified as unusual to themselves.
People fear what is different, what challenges their comfortable group-think. Everyone wants to be a big fish in a small pond, but that means ostrichizing the ones who are obviously going to jump out of the pond eventually to shine in bigger oceans... and you will. In time.
The battle is in your mind. Remember you can either be your own best friend or your own worst enemy.
